Teaching

I am invested in teaching my students to be critical thinkers who aim to deploy qualitative methods systematically, with rigour, and to answer substantively important questions about the social world. It has been an honour to teach at several institutions in the world and to students ranging from undergraduates to PhD students to practitioners.

My methodological teaching expertise is: interviews, ethnographic methods, qualitative data analysis.

My substantive teaching expertise is: organisations, occupations, and work, gender, family, and emotions.

Currently, my teaching at the LSE is focused on the following:

  • I convene MY423/523 Interview Methods for Social Science Research.

  • I teach on MY421 Qualitative Research Methods.

  • I teach on MY580 which are workshops aimed at PhD students and practitioners. I have created new workshops on “Qualitative Data Analysis” and “How to Write a Methods Section for Qualitative Articles.”

Previously, I have taught Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Work, Sociology of Family, and Critical Writing.
